About the Role

The Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Anaesthetist to join their team as a Consultant in Critical Care. This is a new post that will provide high-quality care for patients within the Critical Care Unit and offer perioperative care for elective and emergency patients across various specialties.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the care of critically ill patients, providing leadership and guidance to junior colleagues, and participating in clinical audit and quality improvement initiatives. They will also be expected to contribute to the development of the Critical Care Department and participate in teaching and supervision of junior colleagues and medical students.

Requirements

  • Full GMC Registration with a licence to practise
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register for Anaesthesia or within 6 months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training at time of interview
  • FRCA or equivalent qualification
  • Completion of Intermediate training in critical care or equivalent

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • CCT in Intensive Care Medicine or within 6 months of receipt at time of interview
  • FFICM or other related professional or higher qualification in critical care medicine
  • Formal teaching qualification or instructor status for relevant courses (ALS, ATLS)
