Job Title: Anaesthetic Consultant

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic Anaesthetic Consultant with a special interest in Regional Anaesthesia and/or Major Surgery to join our Department of Anaesthetics in Theatres and Critical Care Directorate at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust.

About the Role

As an Anaesthetic Consultant, you will work in close co-operation with other medical, professional, and managerial colleagues to provide high-quality healthcare to our patients. You will be responsible for participating actively in departmental audits, sharing coordination of audit activities within the department, and implementing change.

Key Responsibilities
  • Take an active responsibility for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, training, and supervision.
  • Assume responsibility, both personally and corporately with consultant colleagues, for the management of junior medical staff.
  • Participate in departmental audits and implement change.
Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications and experience:

  • MB BS (or equivalent)
  • Registered with GMC
  • On the specialist register, or within 6 months of acquiring CCT
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • ALS/APLS/ATLS or NLS provider or instructor
  • Additional complimentary postgraduate qualification
  • Additional graduate or intercalated degree
  • Associate fellowship FICM
Training and Experience
  • Experience and documented competence in any one or more of the following specialist areas: Trauma and orthopaedics, Regional anaesthesia, Major cancer surgery, Perioperative medicine
Audit
  • Understand the principles of audit
  • Evidence of participation and completion of audit projects
Research
  • An understanding of general principles, scientific method, and interpretation of literature
Personal Skills
  • Evidence of good communication skills
Other Requirements
  • Basic IT skills for the use of email, Microsoft Office, etc
  • Driving Licence
