About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maritime Consultant to join our team at Simpson Booth Limited. As a key member of our Strategy and Energy Transition group, you will play a crucial role in developing and delivering our organization's strategy and selected work programmes, particularly in the area of greenhouse gas reduction.

The offshore industry is undergoing a significant transformation in response to the challenges of achieving Net Zero, improved stewardship of the marine environment, and responsible resource use. This is an exciting time to join our organization, and you will have the opportunity to shape the future strategy to support our members' approach to decarbonisation, value offering, and activities.

As a Maritime Consultant, you will work collaboratively with our Director of Strategy and Energy Transition to support our organization's strategy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and meet international regulatory targets. You will also work with our Technical Advisers to support the Greenhouse Gas Committee's agenda, objectives, and internal processes.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement strategies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and meet international regulatory targets.
  2. Work with the Director of Strategy and Energy Transition and Technical Advisers to support the Greenhouse Gas Committee's agenda, objectives, and internal processes.
  3. Monitor regulatory developments affecting our members and brief our Director of Strategy and Energy Transition and IMCA as necessary.
  4. Interpret and analyze internal and external industry data to support GHGC and IMCA activities.
  5. Support other Technical Committees as required.
  6. Provide specific support to our members on decarbonisation.
  7. Attend and contribute to committee(s) and workgroups, including preparing meeting minutes and following up on actions.
  8. Support the collection of member insights to identify opportunities and facilitate the development of guidelines.
  9. Assist in the drafting of guidance documents and Information Notes.
  10. Assist with preparing key presentations and training for meetings.
  11. Assist with briefings for our senior management.
  12. Work with our MSG team to maintain up-to-date committee member information.
  13. Work with our communication team to develop engaging material, ensuring the effective outreach of our organization's work within the industry.
  14. Travel as required to represent our organization at appropriate meetings and events.
Requirements
  1. Experience in the marine sector or offshore energy or offshore construction or similar.
  2. Awareness of the evolving regulatory landscape and international legislative requirements.
  3. Ability to work with data and extract relevant insights from industry sources.
  4. A champion for the reduction of carbon emissions and related challenges from our membership fleet compared with the wider shipping industry.
  5. Confidence in engaging at a senior level to liaise with member companies, solicit ideas and initiatives, and drive forward a programme of improvement for our membership.
  6. A strong communicator to pragmatically coach our members on the need to raise their profile and credentials in marine decarbonisation matters.
  7. Experience in the development, design, and implementation of new programs and initiatives.
