Job Description

Egis Group is seeking an experienced Principal Civil Engineer to join our Rail division in Cardiff. The successful candidate will lead in providing engineering judgement in design and construction activities, ensuring end-to-end Engineering Assurance in accordance with contract requirements, technical specifications, and applicable standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and prepare design in accordance with Eurocodes and NR-L2-CIV-003 (Engineering and Architectural Assurance of Building and Civil Engineering Works) across projects ranging from GRIP 1 to GRIP 5 / RIBA 2 to 5.
  • Prepare and manage civil/structural engineering design drawings, calculations, reports, and supporting documentation to Network Rail standards/Building Regulations.
  • Coordinate and manage engineering activities to ensure civil/structural schemes meet programme requirements in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
  • Manage resources, junior engineers, and CAD technicians to complete deliverables.
  • Monitor specific projects to ensure they are engineered to the standards and specification of the client.
Requirements
  • Professional Engineer Registration status with the Engineering Council (UK) and registered with an appropriate professional institution.
  • Project and team-running experience in UK consultancy, client, or contractor organisation.
  • Excellent understanding of Eurocode, Network Rail, and associated rail standards, and related regulations (CDM, CSM, RIR).
  • Excellent engineering, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Valid driving licence.
  • Understanding of interdisciplinary design within rail environment.
  • An appreciation of environmental issues in engineering works, including low carbon design.
  • IT competence in remote working and facilitation of digital workshops.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance.
  • PTS AC/DC.
