Volunteer Role
SeeAbility is seeking a Volunteer Befriender to support individuals with learning disabilities and autism who may also have sight loss. The successful candidate will play a vital role in the lives of our service users by being a reliable companion to attend activities they enjoy.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend activities with service users, such as going for a walk, attending a concert, or going out for coffee.
- Provide companionship and support to service users, promoting their independence and well-being.
- Develop positive relationships with service users, based on trust, empathy, and understanding.
- Assist service users with sighted guide/orientation, as needed.
Requirements
- Be kind, empathetic, and friendly.
- Have a good sense of humour and enjoy chatting.
- Be punctual and reliable.
- Be able to deal with information in line with our data protection and confidentiality procedures.
