We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Apprentice Draughtsperson to join our team at Unique Group.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and Drawing Production
    • Assist in designing logic control circuits and produce logic drawings that meet the requirements of our subsea products and systems.
    • Learn to produce accurate manufacturing drawings, ensuring that they align with the technical specifications and production needs.
    • Support the creation of Bills of Materials (BOMs) and production routes in the ERP system, maintaining accuracy and adherence to change control processes.
  • Electrical Design and Interfaces
    • Participate in the design of electrical interfaces for products and systems, ensuring proper integration and functionality.
    • Assist in the identification and selection of appropriate components throughout the design process, considering cost, quality, and performance.
  • Compliance and Standards
    • Learn to conduct power assessments and contribute to product specification reviews and conformity assessments to ensure compliance with industry standards.
    • Develop the ability to read and interpret third-party codes, standards, and associations such as IMCA, ABS, DNV, LR, IMO, ASME, EN, SABS, ISO, etc., as well as local and international directives and regulations.
  • Design Documentation and Control
    • Assist in capturing as-built data and redlines for designs, drawings, BOMs, Inspection Reports (IRs), Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), etc., in accordance with Engineering Change Process (ECP) protocols.
    • Support the submission of design drawings and documents to third parties, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Concept Development and Costing
    • Contribute to the development of concept designs to facilitate project proposals and budget costings, under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Learning and Development
    • Actively participate in training and development programs to enhance your technical drawing skills and knowledge of design principles.
    • Work closely with your assigned mentor to gain insights and practical experience in draughtsmanship and engineering design.
    Requirements:
    • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; enrolment in or completion of a relevant technical program or apprenticeship in draughtsmanship, engineering, or a related field.
    • Skills: Basic understanding of technical drawing, CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.), and a strong willingness to learn. Good attention to detail and an interest in engineering and design.
    • Knowledge: Familiarity with electrical and mechanical systems is an advantage but not required; training will be provided.
    • Attributes: Strong problem-solving skills, a proactive approach to learning, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
