Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled Speech and Language Therapist to join the multidisciplinary team at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn NHSFT.

This role will enable you to develop your skills in assessing and managing adults with a range of acquired communication disorders, working closely with healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care.

You will have the opportunity to develop your expertise in dysphagia therapy, including videofluoroscopy, under the supervision of experienced specialists.

The successful candidate will be committed to delivering evidence-based practice and will have a strong understanding of current research and guidelines in the field of Speech and Language Therapy.

Main Responsibilities

To provide Speech and Language Therapy assessment, differential diagnosis, and treatment for adults with acquired communication disorders across acute wards and stroke services at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn NHSFT.

To provide dysphagia therapy for patients across acute wards and stroke services at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn NHSFT under the supervision of specialist Speech and Language Therapists and to develop skills in assessing dysphagia.

To work with stroke patients in both the acute, outpatients, and community settings as required by senior SLT stroke specialists, including their own homes and residential/nursing homes.

To ensure a multi-professional approach is carried out in the implementation of patient care across acute wards and all stroke services.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Attainment of a recognized degree in Speech and Language Therapy as recognized by RCLST and HCPC
  • Membership of RCLST
  • Current Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration
  • To provide evidence of ongoing CPD to meet regulatory body professional standards

Desirable

  • Membership of any relevant special interest groups (CENs)

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working with adults with a range of acquired communication difficulties
  • Evidence of effective working in a multidisciplinary team

Desirable

  • Experience in delivering education and training packages
  • Experience of study, research, voluntary work around area of interest
