As a key member of the Economicsnetwork team, we are seeking a highly skilled Biologist Specialist to lead analysis of single-cell gene expression and open chromatin profiling data to investigate transcriptional regulation during Drosophila Melanogaster brain development.

The successful candidate will work with experimental collaborators to answer questions in developmental neuroscience, building a map of neuronal development and understanding sex-specific neuronal identity. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading analysis of single-cell RNAseq & ATACseq profiles from hundreds of thousands of neurons.
  • Building a map of neuronal development and understanding how sex-specific neuronal identity emerges from transcriptional programmes.

Requirements for this role include a PhD or MSc in a quantitative discipline such as bioinformatics, computational biology, physics, statistics, engineering, or mathematics. Experience working in a Linux environment and proficiency in Python and R are also essential. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required, as is experience in analysis of single cell gene expression data. The estimated salary for this position is £42,144 per annum.
