This role is perfect for individuals who are passionate about open-source software and eager to collaborate with a talented team of engineers. You'll be responsible for fostering a software ecosystem with seamless user experiences for all Ubuntu users, debugging issues, and evaluating contributions to maintain high-quality software standards.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Collaborate proactively within a distributed team
  • Foster a software ecosystem with seamless user experience for all Ubuntu users
  • Debug issues and facilitate their solution together with upstream projects
  • Evaluate contributions of other engineers to maintain high-quality software standards
  • Work from home with global travel 2 to 4 weeks for internal and external events
  • Play a role in shaping the future of Ubuntu via both new ideas in your areas of interest and advising on work being done elsewhere
  • Own the maintenance of Ubuntu Server packages, specifically traditional server workloads, virtualization, and containers

Requirements:



  • You love technology and working with brilliant people

  • You value soft skills and are passionate, enterprising, thoughtful, and self-motivated
  • You have a Bachelor's or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or a similar degree
  • You have interest and experience with two or more of the following: distribution development, debugging issues, creation of test environments, administration and optimization of complex workloads, coding in Python, Go, or Rust, packaging or distributing software, public clouds like AWS, GCP, Azure, Oracle Cloud, and IBM Cloud
  • You enjoy switching projects frequently and learning about a wide range of technologies
  • Involvement in open-source projects in the past is a plus
