Job Title: Academic Human Resources Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Academic Human Resources Officer to join our team at Workshop Recruitment.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide expert HR advice and support to employees and management on employment-related matters, ensuring compliance with internal processes and legal requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date HR systems and processes, including recruitment, employment contracts, onboarding, and leavers, ensuring seamless communication with departments.
  • Coordinate and attend meetings and hearings with the Director of HR, ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed and accurate.
  • Offer guidance and support on absence and return-to-work cases, as well as HR and administrative support in investigations into conduct, capability, and grievance matters.
  • Act as a liaison between management and third-party providers, offering advice and guidance on job design, recruitment, induction, best practices, and company procedures.
  • Manage company functions, including Employee Appreciation Day, Christmas Party, and other events.
  • Support in creating Personal Development Plans (PDPs) for staff and monitor training activities in collaboration with managers.
  • Assist with payroll and benefits activities, ensuring compliance with UK Employment regulations.
  • Act as a Mental Health First Aider and provide support to other MHFAs as needed.
Requirements
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Human Resources, preferably in an advisory role.
  • Full or part CIPD qualification.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to present numerical data and gather information effectively.
  • Ability to work in a team, prioritize tasks, and manage time efficiently.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to prioritize a varied workload.
  • Flexibility, calmness under pressure, and ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is an advantage.
