About the Role

As a Payroll Specialist, you will work closely with the Payroll Manager to provide a comprehensive payroll processing service by meeting weekly and monthly payroll deadlines while supporting internal employees through offering advice around payments/deductions, communicating effectively with stakeholders, and driving process improvements.

Main Responsibilities

  • Process UK and IOM monthly payroll end to end
  • Process statutory payments and deductions
  • Pension administration and reconciliations
  • Support with time and attendance
  • Provide a confidential service to employees at all levels
  • Submission of year-end, P and PD documents
  • Support with company car and other salary sacrifice schemes
  • In the absence of the Payroll Manager, ensure the pre-payroll processing tasks are completed, the payrolls are run, and the post-processing tasks completed, all in a timely, accurate, and compliant manner, including the submission and retrieval of files to/from HMRC.
  • In the absence of the Payroll Manager, balance the net payment for the payroll and the monthly Payroll reconciliation.
  • Support the Payroll Manager in ensuring the skills and experience of the payroll team are mapped and gaps in knowledge are closed where there may be an impact on service delivery.
  • Research new initiatives where efficiency and customer experience can be improved across systems, processes, and ways of working.
  • Communicate throughout the Payroll team, broader HR, and the business, all changes to statutory and legislative requirements.
  • Build excellent working relationships with Business Leaders and key stakeholders.
  • Keep personal knowledge up to date through external networking and attending conferences, bringing back leading-edge and innovative payroll thinking, and sharing this with the team and HR Leadership.

Working Hours

Hours per week, Monday – Friday, with hybrid available

About You

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record with 2+ years' experience working in end-to-end payroll, ideally within a fast-paced, multi-site organization.

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • Some in-house payroll experience would be beneficial, however not essential
  • CIPP qualification is desirable
  • Whilst a recognized Payroll qualification would be preferred, we would consider applications where equivalent knowledge and expertise has been obtained via experience
  • Knowledge and experience of recent/current legislation is paramount.
  • A capable and proactive professional who is committed to delivering a first-class internal/external service
  • Excellent understanding and experience of working with Payroll systems, where previous knowledge of iTrent is preferable.
  • A clear respect for confidentiality
  • Able to work well under pressure with minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build rapport with key stakeholders
