About Us

The National Childbirth Trust is a charity that supports parents and families across the UK. We provide breastfeeding and infant feeding support, community activities, and campaigns on issues affecting parents.

Our NCT Birth Feeding and You project offers infant feeding and emotional wellbeing support in Peterborough and Cambridgeshire. We are seeking a capable paid peer supporter to work with our team.

About the Role

This is an 18-21 hour per week community-based role, requiring daily travel across Cambridgeshire and occasional homeworking. The post holder will provide peer support to families in community settings and postnatal wards.

Key responsibilities include providing breastfeeding and perinatal peer support, delivering inductions for volunteer peer supporters, and reporting concerns or additional support needs to the management team.

Requirements

  • Good communication skills and ability to build relationships with a wide range of people
  • Ability to confidently prioritise work, be highly organised, and work independently
  • Good IT skills, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Ability to make decisions and respond appropriately to stakeholders
