Mechatronic Specialist

CyanoCapture is a biotech company based in Oxford that develops innovative carbon capture solutions using cutting-edge bioengineering techniques.

We are seeking a skilled Mechatronic Specialist to contribute to the development of novel lab innovations for cultivating and high-throughput screening of genetically engineered photosynthetic microbes.

The successful candidate will design, build, upgrade, and manage lab-scale and mid-scale photobioreactors, as well as associated control, measurement, and data systems.

This role requires a highly motivated and driven individual who can manage multiple projects from inception to delivery, applying a first-principles mindset to accelerate our rate of development in photosynthetic biomanufacturing.

• Design, build, and upgrade lab-scale and mid-scale photobioreactors, as well as associated control, measurement, and data systems.
• Transfer learnings from lab-scale equipment and assessments to large-scale operational environments, interfacing with scale-up partners to deploy climate-positive biomanufacturing technologies.
• Manage multiple projects from inception to delivery, applying a first-principles mindset to identify critical assumptions and accelerate our rate of development.

• Relevant Bachelor's, Master's, PhD, or industry experience in Mechatronics or a related field.
• Proficiency in Mechatronics and microcontrollers (STM32, ESP32, Arduino).
• Software development skills in C++ and Python.
• Experience in prototyping and CAD design (Fusion, SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
