Job Title: Senior Flexible Pipes Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Flexible Pipes Engineer to join our team at Orion Group. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for the technical follow-up of the flexible pipe package and will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful delivery of our projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop specifications for flexible pipe suppliers and interface with project teams, engineering teams, and SCM.
  • Support the selection of flexible pipe suppliers through technical evaluation and plan, detail, and review technical documentation related to flexible, subsea hardware, and topside interface.
  • Develop documentation packages and studies linked to the sizing and analysis of dynamic riser systems and static jumper systems.
  • Manage design analysis, undertake, and check others' analysis, design, and engineering activities associated with flexible cross-sections, terminations, bend restrictors, etc.
  • Ensure design and detailing in accordance with acknowledged industry codes, standards, and design guides, client specifications, and company internal standards.
  • Produce and check design documentation, including feasibility reports, detailed in-place design reports, specifications, material take-offs, etc.
  • Be aware of overall project/tender planning and responsible for the planning of your scope of work.
  • Ensure progress and compliance of suppliers in close interface with SCM functions.
  • Follow up flexible design activities, fabrications, and testing.
  • Ensure work is performed in accordance with the latest HSEQ and Group procedures.
  • Provide engineering assistance during mobilizations and occasional periods of offshore or site working, including FATs, SITs, pre-commissioning, etc.
  • Participate in events such as bid clarifications, kick-off meetings, HIRAs, design reviews, etc.
  • Check that procedures and analysis match project objectives.
  • Attend project audits related to engineering activities as and when required.
  • Attend project engineering reviews as and when required.
  • Provide technical engineering support to other departments within the engineering group, the project engineering group, and to colleagues in terms of training and mentoring.
  • Ensure know-how is transferred within the discipline and attend discipline meetings as required.
Requirements:
  • MSc or PhD in mechanical engineering/hydrodynamics, with relevant work experience in the oil and gas industry or equivalent, with experiences of riser systems analysis (rigid, flexible, or umbilical).
  • Proficient in OrcaFlex software.
  • Fluent English.
Personal Attributes:
  • Undertake responsibility for production of deliverables, which may include engineering support to drafting offices, design calculations, specifications, procedures, analyses, progress reports, bid evaluations, study reports, and various 3rd-party submissions.
  • Experience in working in a multi-disciplined system engineering team.
  • Ability to prioritize own workload, manage time accordingly, and inform team members where constraints will affect a project in terms of program or budget.
  • Demonstrable ability to work within time/budget constraints.
  • Ability in vendor and 3rd-party interface.
  • Ability in working in a multicultural group.

  • Installation analyses.
  • Naval architecture.
  • Umbilical system design.
  • Offshore experience.
Working Conditions:
  • Majority of the work is carried out in the regional main office site - Sutton.
  • Offshore/off-site location during project execution phase as required.
  • Working hours according to local regulation and company's policy.
