Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Z/OS System Programmer to work on major projects based on client site. The role involves upgrading and supporting the z/OS operating system and ISV products, mainly from IBM and Computer Associates (CA).

Key Responsibilities

  • Upgrading, maintaining and supporting the z/OS operating system
  • Upgrading, maintaining and supporting ISV products particularly from the vendors; IBM and Computer Associates (CA)
  • Working closely with the other Engineering teams, to ensure that the systems are built to be stable, available, up to date and running as effectively and efficiently as possible

Technical Requirements

  • z/OS, SMP/E, TSO/ISPF, USS, SDSF, JCL, RACF
  • Parallel Sysplex
  • Installation of several different IBM and CA products

Key Skills

The successful candidate will ideally have more than ten years of z/OS systems programming experienceShould have very strong Parallel Sysplex skillsExtensive experience of installing many (not just a few) IBM and CA productsShould have ideally worked in a Bank or organisations with large installationsShould be confident, able to work independently and start contributing from day oneMust have excellent problem-solving skills and be a true team playerWill need provide off hours support for the implementation of software changes, when requiredExcellent written and spoken communication skills; an ability to communicate with impact, ensuring complex information is articulated in a meaningful way to wide and varied audiences

Desirable skills

Any additional knowledge of the following tools would be advantageous: ACF2 Security tool /GDPS/ RACF/ Assembler/ Rexx/ /RMF/SMF/SAS
