Job Overview

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking an experienced Math Tutor to provide personalized instruction to students in a part-time capacity. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of mathematics and the ability to adapt their teaching style to meet the needs of diverse learners.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one instruction to students in mathematics, focusing on identified areas of need
• Develop and implement customized lesson plans to meet the unique needs of each student
• Use a variety of instructional strategies to engage students and promote active learning
• Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
• Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to ensure a cohesive approach to student support

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or a related field
• Virginia Teaching Certificate/License with an endorsement in Mathematics
• Prior experience teaching at-risk youth
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Working Conditions

This position is designed to work evenings and weekends, with an average of 29 hours per week.
• Must be able to attend a 3-week training program at the Virginia Public Safety Training Center in Hanover, Virginia
