Job Title: Reading Support Mentor

Are you an ambitious English graduate looking to gain valuable experience in a secondary school setting? We are seeking a Reading Support Mentor to join our team and support pupils with low reading levels.

About the Role:

This is an excellent opportunity for an English graduate to enhance their CV and gain experience in a real-world teaching environment. As a Reading Support Mentor, you will work closely with class teachers to set short-term goals for individual pupils and support them in achieving these goals. You will also assist the class teacher in lessons, ensuring progress is being made.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support pupils with low reading levels in a one-to-one and small group setting
  • Work closely with class teachers to set short-term goals for individual pupils
  • Assist the class teacher in lessons, ensuring progress is being made
  • Provide pastoral and academic support to pupils
Person Specification:
  • 2:1 or above English degree
  • Availability from September 2024 - July 2025
  • Experience working with children is not necessary, but any previous tutoring experience is advantageous
  • Resilience, determination, and commitment are essential for this role
