About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled XR Systems Engineer to join our Core Development Team at Avantis Education. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing code and supporting tools for our existing and future headsets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain high-quality code for our headsets, ensuring seamless integration with our manufacturing and software partners.
  • Collaborate with our partners to design and develop OS and core apps, system development, and platform enhancements.
  • Manage time and deliverables effectively, maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.
  • Adopt and implement best practice development processes, utilizing frameworks such as Agile, Scrum, and Kanban.
  • Translate ideas into actionable plans and deliverables, prioritizing and executing against a backlog of improvements.
Requirements
  • Proficiency in languages such as C++, Java, Kotlin, and Python.
  • Experience with Android application development and/or Linux system development.
  • Familiarity with code control tools like Docker and Git.
  • Knowledge of tools such as Jira, Trello, and Confluence.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on finding practical and effective solutions.
Desirable Skills
  • Experience in developing VR/XR technologies.
  • Familiarity with VR/XR frameworks and SDKs such as OpenXR, WebXR, Qualcomm Spaces, and Cardboard.
  • Proficiency in Android Studio and similar development environments.
  • Experience in embedded systems and VR content development.
  • Understanding of emerging technologies in the spatial computing space, including haptic development, hand tracking, and visual FX.
