About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Functional Skills Tutor to join our team in Birmingham, West Midlands. As a Functional Skills Tutor, you will be responsible for supporting apprenticeship learners who require a functional skills qualification.

Responsibilities:

  • Support a caseload of learners ensuring mandatory progress and achievements in functional skills English and mathematics are completed in a timely manner.
  • Drive the quality of education across all areas of responsibility.
  • Conduct monthly interventions, where you will monitor progress and set action plans, as and when required.
  • Take responsibility for actions associated with the chasing of learners who miss scheduled sessions.
  • Create weekly and monthly reports pertaining to 'at risk' learners in relation to funding compliance.
  • Report non-engaged employers and learners to the Apprenticeship Manager and lead on associated remedial action.
  • Continually review processes informed by system and legislative requirements.
  • Provide pastoral support and mentorship to those learners in your caseload.
  • Maintain a strong link with the wider delivery team to communicate essential information pertaining to individual learners.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need experience of delivering functional skills English and mathematics, familiarisation with the functional skills assessment process, and prior approval with an Awarding Organisation. A Post 16 Tutor Qualification (PTTLS, AET, cert/Ed, PGCE, etc.) and proven track record of managing a caseload of learners are also essential. Experience of working with apprenticeship, traineeships and/or regulated qualifications is desirable but not essential.

Package

The salary for this role is estimated at £25,000 - £35,000 per annum, depending on experience. Benefits include DBS Checks.
