World Horse Welfare, a renowned international equine charity, is seeking a seasoned professional to drive our mission to improve the lives of horses across the UK and beyond. As Director of UK Equine Welfare, you will lead our UK operations, overseeing a central Head Office team, four Rescue & Rehoming Centres, and a nationwide network of Field Officers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement effective strategies to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome equines, ensuring the best welfare outcomes.
  • Oversee operations at our Rescue & Rehoming Centres, promoting a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Embed a culture of collaboration and knowledge-sharing across the charity, driving equine welfare standards and policies.
  • Act as Health & Safety Officer, ensuring compliance and promoting a positive safety culture.
  • Lead on research, education, and influencing, working with partners to promote equine welfare and standards.
  • Manage relationships with key stakeholders, including government bodies, horse sport regulators, and equine welfare organisations.
About You:

We seek a dedicated professional with a clear commitment to our vision, values, and objectives. You will have in-depth knowledge of the equestrian world, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage remote teams and diverse stakeholders. A proven track record in running businesses, ideally within the charity or non-profit sector, is essential.

Desirable qualifications include an RCVS-recognised veterinary qualification, Equestrian Coaching Certificate – Level 3, or knowledge of equine welfare science and/or learning theory.
