About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Children in Care Nurse to join our team at Suffolk County Council. As a key member of our Children in Care Team, you will play a vital role in providing a comprehensive health service to looked after children aged 5-18 years.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct statutory health assessments for children in care, ensuring their health needs are met and documented in a child-centred approach.
  • Develop and implement healthcare plans, working closely with the child, their family, and other professionals to ensure the child's health needs are addressed.
  • Collaborate with the Children in Care Team to provide advice and guidance on the child's physical, emotional, and mental health needs.
Requirements
  • Hold a Community Specialist Public Health Nurse, Health Visitor, or School Nurse qualification.
  • Have comprehensive knowledge of health needs for children and young people, including emotional development.
  • Be able to communicate complex health information effectively to children and young people in care.
  • Have a sound knowledge and practical understanding of safeguarding principles.
