Expert Biomedical Scientist Vacancy

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Biomedical Scientist to join our team as a Specialist in the Screening Division Laboratory at Public Health Wales.

This permanent position offers an exciting opportunity to work on world-class screening programs, supporting the Welsh population. The successful candidate will have significant post-registration experience in cytology, virology, or biochemistry and hold a strong understanding of specialist techniques.

About the Role

You will be responsible for supporting routine laboratory operations, participating in quality management activities, supervising laboratory support staff, and contributing to training and development initiatives.

The laboratory is based at Magden Park, Llantrisant, and provides testing services for national screening programs, including cervical HPV testing, cytology screening, and faecal immunochemical testing (FIT).

Requirements

• Biomedical Science degree or equivalent qualification acceptable for HCPC registration
• Significant post-registration experience in a HCPC-registered laboratory, developing expertise in specialist techniques
• Evidence of HCPC registration in Biomedical Sciences and continuous professional development

Salary: £50,000 - £70,000 per annum
