About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Careers Guidance Professional to join our team at Northgate High School. As a key member of our careers department, you will play a vital role in supporting students from Year 7 to Year 13 in their career aspirations and ambitions.

With a strong emphasis on student success, we are looking for someone who can provide tailored careers advice, guidance, and support to our students, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge to make informed decisions about their future.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Engage with students throughout their school journey, delivering vibrant and relevant careers guidance that meets their individual needs.
  2. Offer impartial and informed careers advice, signposting students to appropriate support services as needed.
  3. Conduct one-to-one careers guidance meetings with students at key transition points or as required, providing personalized guidance and support.
  4. Develop links with employers, providers, and alumni, securing work experience placements for students and facilitating partnerships that benefit the school community.
  5. Support the organization of work experience placements, liaising with parents, carers, and employers to ensure successful outcomes.
  6. Work collaboratively with the Careers Leader to develop engaging careers lessons, ensuring they are up-to-date, interesting, and relevant.
  7. Deliver assemblies and lessons, supporting teachers in the delivery of careers education within the PSHE curriculum.
  8. Contribute to the planning and coordination of careers events, such as the Careers Fair, Enterprise Days, Oxbridge Conference, and Next Steps Evening.
  9. Accompany students on workplace and learning provider visits, advising them on job applications, university choices, and interview preparation.
  10. Provide futures-focused mentoring for selected groups of students, offering guidance and support throughout their educational journey.
Requirements
  • A degree in a relevant subject or equivalent experience in careers guidance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with students, staff, and external partners.
  • Experience of working in a school environment, preferably in a careers guidance role.
  • Knowledge of the Gatsby Benchmarks and CDI Careers Development framework.
  • Ability to analyze data and produce reports, tracking student progress and destination outcomes.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to contribute to the development of the careers department, suggesting new initiatives and ideas to enhance student engagement and outcomes.
What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary of £25,000 - £35,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus a range of benefits including:
