Role Summary

As a Consultant Medical Oncologist, you will play a key role in providing expert care to patients with cancer, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement treatment plans.

Main Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and treat patients with cancer, using a range of treatments including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and radiation therapy.
  • Coordinate treatment plans, working with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care.
  • Monitor and manage patients' conditions, providing ongoing support and care.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and their families, explaining diagnoses, treatment options, and prognosis.
  • Keep accurate records of patient care, including test results, treatment plans, and outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement clinical guidelines and policies.

Requirements

  • Registration with the General Medical Council (GMC).
  • Experience in medical oncology, preferably in a consultant role.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple patients and priorities.
  • Knowledge of clinical guidelines and policies, with the ability to apply them in practice.
  • Flexibility to work in a variety of settings, including hospital and community-based environments.
