Paediatric Ophthalmology Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant Ophthalmologist to join our team at Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality care for Paediatric patients, working closely with our dedicated Orthoptic team and paediatric optician.
Main Duties- Provide specialist care for Paediatric patients with ophthalmic conditions
- Carry out squint surgery and general ophthalmic surgery
- Supervise Ophthalmic ST trainees from Wessex Deanery
- Participate in a 1:5 Saturday AM casualty clinic session
- Full GMC Registration
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview)
- CESAR or European Community Rights
- An appropriate higher surgical/medical qualification
- 5 years clinical experience in the relevant specialty
- Appropriate UK experience
- Sub-specialty Fellowship (or equivalent)
- Experience demonstrating potential ability to cope with the demands of a DGH based Consultant
- Experience in general Ophthalmology with the necessary skills to enhance the department
- Evidence of understanding of clinical governance
- Knowledge of and direct involvement in audit
- Knowledge of principles of research and evidence of involvement in research
- Evidence of general management training and skills appropriate for the post
- Knowledge of organisational aspects of the NHS
- Evidence of ability to contribute to the strategic direction of the Trust
- Evidence of teaching experience and abilities appropriate to the post
- Ability to present effectively to an audience
