About the Role

Twilio is seeking a highly skilled Senior Counsel to join our team in Ireland or the United Kingdom. As a key member of our Legal team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the company's compliance with global data protection laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Counsel, you will be responsible for:

  1. Drafting and negotiating data protection agreements with suppliers, partners, and third parties;
  2. Performing privacy impact assessments and providing targeted guidance on data protection laws;
  3. Assisting with supplier annual privacy reviews and ongoing monitoring;
  4. Providing privacy legal support for B2B marketing and advertising activities;
  5. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure company-wide compliance with our privacy requirements.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  1. 3-5 years of post-qualification experience in data protection/privacy law;
  2. Qualification to practice in an EU jurisdiction, the UK, or another common law jurisdiction;
  3. Experience negotiating data protection terms of commercial agreements from a B2B perspective;
  4. Experience reviewing Privacy Impact Assessments and providing practical, risk-based guidance;
  5. Strong English language written and verbal communication skills;
  6. Familiarity with global privacy laws, especially the GDPR;
  7. Familiarity with additional global laws (CCPA and other US state privacy laws, PIPEDA, LGPD, APPI, UK Data Protection Act, etc.);
  8. Familiarity with AI/ML a bonus.
