We are seeking an experienced Ecologist to lead our ecological team in the Southampton area, working on projects that shape the future of the environment.


About the Role:


This is an exciting opportunity for an established ecologist to join our RPS Group team as an Ecologist Expert Lead. You will be responsible for delivering expert ecological services, including master planning inputs, ecological appraisals, botanical surveys, and protected species studies.


You will work closely with our clients to understand their needs and develop tailored solutions that meet their goals while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.


Your Key Responsibilities:



  • Develop and implement effective ecological strategies to minimize environmental impact
  • Liaise with stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery
  • Mentor and coach junior team members to enhance their skills and knowledge
  • Contribute to business development by identifying new opportunities and securing clients
  • Build strong relationships with colleagues, clients, and external partners
  • Manage projects effectively, ensuring timely completion and quality outputs
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments, legislation, and best practices
  • Promote RPS Group's Purpose, Promise, and Behaviours within the team and with clients
  • Lead by example, demonstrating a positive attitude and commitment to excellence

About You:


To succeed in this role, you will have a degree in a relevant subject and significant experience in ecological consultancy, preferably with a Class 2/3/4 bat license or similar.


You should possess excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to think creatively and strategically.


A strong understanding of technical disciplines, industry trends, and regulatory requirements is essential, as well as the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
