Job Description

The Project Management Director will be responsible for leading and managing a team of project managers, ensuring the safe and compliant delivery of Capital and Lifecycle projects. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of complex Building Services systems and experience of working in PFI contract environments. They will also have a proven track record of leading and building a team of more than 10 colleagues and managing a budget of more than £5m revenue per annum.



Main Accountabilities

The Project Management Director will be accountable for the following:





  • Ensuring appropriate corporate governance is in place to comply with health, safety, CDM, and other legal requirements within the department, working within the Management System (SMS).

  • Supplying technical knowledge (SME) and input across the contract and as required.

  • Identifying and implementing effective change and transformation service improvements by guiding others and helping them adapt to improve overall business performance.

  • Managing a variety of complex service risks and issues, making autonomous decisions to find practical solutions.

  • Providing leadership and management to the contract management team and Project team so that all employees understand and adopt the strategy and plans and are motivated to achieve their objectives in a timely and professional manner.

  • Developing and mentoring team members in all aspects of Hard FM Project delivery and ensuring a comprehensive succession plan is in place and regularly reviewed and updated.

  • Reviewing and organising the Hard FM as required to deliver safe, successful, and high-quality services to the client and customer.

  • Ensuring a culture of high employee engagement and participation through effective and sustained people strategies aligned with the overall business objectives.

  • Effectively and appropriately allocating and empowering responsibility to others to maximise the individuals' and organisational effectiveness.

  • Effectively managing the team using the full range of People Policies and Procedures, including Recruitment and Selection, Performance Development Review, Absence Management, Discipline, and Grievance.

  • The post holder will be financially accountable for the service(s) they are responsible for, which will include the preparation, monitoring, and delivery of the budget in line with contract objectives.

  • Developing the business development strategy to support delivery of the contract's growth aspirations.

  • Draw up contingency plans to manage projected overspends.

  • Identifying and implementing cost-saving efficiencies across the service(s).

  • Managing costings and implementation of Capital variations.
