Cornwallis Elt Ltd is seeking a skilled Catastrophe Modelling Specialist to join our team in London. As a Catastrophe Modelling Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our Marine Insurance clients by developing, refining, and implementing catastrophe models.
You will work closely with insurers, underwriters, and actuaries to assess and quantify risks from natural and man-made hazards, helping clients understand their exposure and optimize their portfolios.
- Build and maintain catastrophe models specific to marine risks, including natural disasters (e.g., oil spills, piracy).
- Analyse large datasets related to global shipping, cargo, and marine assets to assess potential vulnerabilities and exposures.
- Collaborate with underwriters, actuaries, and clients to translate modelling outputs into actionable insights for portfolio management and risk mitigation.
- Assist in the preparation of bespoke client reports, risk assessments, and presentations.
- Provide technical expertise on marine-specific risks and offer tailored recommendations for catastrophe risk transfer.
Key Skills:
- Catastrophe modelling experience across marine classes
- Proficiency with catastrophe modelling software such as RMS, AIR, or similar tools
