Precision Machining Engineer

About the Role
This opportunity is to cover off-peak activity for a likely duration of 6 months in the form of a fixed-term contract to be based out of our manufacturing facility. The work will allow you to work within a CNC precision machine shop environment as a skilled CNC Miller.
You will be working within a CNC precision machine shop environment, programming, setting, and tool selection, proving out, and operating multiple machine tools including multi-axis machining centers with various programming languages (3 to 6 axis) to produce R&D, high-value, one-off, or low-volume production component parts.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and input to the development of machining processes and tooling/fixture design.
- Ability to select and optimize tools, liaising with tooling suppliers.
- Mentoring and training of others, which may include apprentices.
- Working to specifications, procedures, and engineering drawings.
- Develop and improve work procedures/processes with the engineering team.
- Problem-solving machine issues and facilitating corrective action plans.
- Ability to prioritize workload to meet deliverable commitments and support production schedules to optimize machine utilization.
- Demonstrating high-quality standards and supporting improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Ability to work from detailed engineering drawings producing conforming product.
- Competent CNC Milling experience. Turning experience is desirable.
- Ability to program/post-process using Fanuc & Heidenhain languages.
- Understanding and execution of CAD/CAM software.
- Conversant with multi-axis machining methods (3 to 6 axis).
- Good knowledge of inspection techniques and measuring equipment.
- General engineering workshop practices and proven manufacturing experience.
- Ability to work from written and verbal process instructions.
- Ability to work independently from concept through to manufacture.
- Adherence and accountability of Housekeeping and 6S standards within defined work areas.
- Adherence to mechanical and manual lifting processes.
- High level of CoSHH and H&S awareness.
- Competent computer skills, including MS-office, MRP systems.
- Good communication and reporting skills.
