Hutcheon Mearns is engaged by an oil service company to source a Financial Controller with expertise in project accounting on a full-time, permanent basis. The client is a Private Equity-backed, high-growth, multi-national organisation. This role is based in Aberdeen with hybrid and flexible working.

This position will be responsible for monthly accounting entries, timely and accurate preparation of business line accounting reports in line with project timetables, budgeting and forecasting, and supporting multiple projects.

The Opportunity

  • Responsible for all aspects of project accounting and ensuring financial controls are in place.
  • Timely preparation of Profit & Loss and liaison with project managers.
  • Review of balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis.
  • Development of a standard management reporting framework for group-wide use.
  • Preparation of VAT returns and other taxation requirements.
  • Closure of WIP, Accrued Income, Aged Debt, and other KPIs.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a project or management accountant in a medium-sized business.
  • Extensive knowledge of practical daily operations of an accounting team.
  • Experience working with ERP systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
