Senior Electrical Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our design studio at our Head Office in Southampton.

About the Role:

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to lead and manage electrical design projects from concept to completion.

As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of electrical design, including project specific design deliverables, design in accordance with M&E Design QA Procedures, and detailed design in accordance with Trant Procedures.

You will also be responsible for interpreting and understanding client requirements from client documents, communicating with clients, external design resources, and subcontractors to ensure compliance with specification, and managing internal and external project specific design costs in liaison with the Project Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Manage project specific design deliverables
  2. Carry out design in accordance with M&E Design QA Procedures
  3. Responsible for the detailed design in accordance with Trant Procedures
  4. Interpret and understand client requirements from client documents
  5. Communicate with clients, external design resources, and subcontractors to ensure compliance with specification
  6. Manage internal and external project specific design costs in liaison with the Project Manager
  7. Undertake and check design calculations, including modelling of the complete power system (AMTECH)
  8. Prepare drawings for CAD production
  9. Assist in the development of process control philosophies with the Process Engineer and suppliers
  10. Produce electrical scope and works enquiry submission documents
  11. Estimate material and labour costs
  12. Undertake design risk assessments to support detailed design proposals
  13. Prepare detailed electrical specifications
  14. Produce single line and block cable diagrams, load schedules, equipment specifications, cable schedules, equipment schedules, telemetry schedules, instrument schedules, and I/O listings
  15. Record and document all design changes through to completion and issue of 'As Built' documents
  16. Liaise with clients and subcontractors
Requirements:
  1. An appropriate electrical qualification or by experience
  2. Chartered Engineer status would be advantageous
