As a key member of the Hexcel team, you will be responsible for designing and developing existing technology and introducing new technology to the factory. With a strong focus on research and development, Hexcel is the industry leader in the manufacturing of advanced composite materials, including carbon fiber, woven reinforcements, resins, prepregs, honeycombs, and additive manufactured parts.

As a R+T Process Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Designing and developing new machine designs
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements to reduce manufacturing costs and improve product quality
  • Innovation and technology development, including transfer between sites, to ensure best and consistent practices are used throughout the organisation

Key accountabilities include:

  • Project delivery within budget, scope, and safety requirements
  • Supplier liaison to establish requirements and problem-solving
  • Preparing equipment, acceptance, and commissioning specifications for new and modified capital equipment and validating performance
  • Resource allocation to deliver project objectives, including internal and external vendors
  • Cross-functional and multi-site communication
  • Preparing and maintaining plant standard operating instructions and training

Required knowledge, skills, and experience include:

  • 3-D CAD (SolidWorks) machine design experience
  • Process Engineering/Manufacturing experience
  • Engineering degree
  • Computer literacy, proficient in statistical software and Microsoft Office
  • Strong communication and reporting skills to all organisational levels
  • Preferred: Process risk and hazard assessment tools (e.g. PFMEA, FMEA, HAZOP) and understanding of continuous improvement methodologies (e.g. Six Sigma, Kaizen)
