Job Title: Recycling Operative

Job Summary:

Grapevine Corporate Ltd is seeking a skilled Recycling Operative to join our team. As a Recycling Operative, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our recycling centre. You will be responsible for sorting and storing materials, assisting members of the public, and maintaining a clean and tidy site.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Site Operations: Ensure the site is clean, safe, and tidy at all times, and that equipment and supplies are kept in good working order.
  2. Material Handling: Sort and store materials correctly to maximise amounts that can be recycled, and assist with waste sampling as required.
  3. Public Interaction: Deal efficiently and professionally with requests, concerns, or complaints from members of the public, and provide information and direction as needed.
  4. Plant Operations: Responsible for the pre-use inspections of plant/shunter, reporting any defects prior to shift start, and undertaking general maintenance and preventive maintenance activities.
  5. Administrative Tasks: Assist with administrative tasks within the waste management processes, including paperwork, compliance processes, quality assurance, and other related documentation.
  6. Health and Safety: Carry out daily inspections to the required standard, record any defects, and report any accidents/incidents or potential hazards that occur on site.

Requirements:

  1. Qualified to minimum GCSE level (or equivalent by experience) in English and Maths or NVQ level 2.
  2. Full driving licence with 2 years' experience. IOSH Working Safely or equivalent safety accreditation is desirable.
  3. Desirable: NPORS or similar Plant Operators Licence/Qualification on Material Handler, with previous experience operating plant machinery preferably within the waste industry.
  4. Mechanical knowledge and knowledge of correct manual handling is desirable.
  5. Experience of working within the waste industry and a forward-facing customer environment, with an interest in recycling and the environment.
  6. Computer literate (especially Microsoft Excel and Outlook) with good administration skills.
  7. Ability to work without supervision as well as part of a team.
