Pastoral Support Job Description

U-educate is seeking a skilled Pastoral Support professional to join our team in secondary schools based in Birmingham. As a Pastoral Support specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting the senior leadership team to manage student behaviour throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as a role model for students and staff, demonstrating high-quality pastoral care and support.
  • Work in an 'on-call' capacity to ensure students are in their lessons and provide support to classroom teachers as needed.
  • Remove students from lessons into the internal isolation unit when necessary.
  • Develop and implement behaviour management strategies to promote positive student behaviour.
  • Contribute to school-wide knowledge and skills in behaviour management.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working with KS3 and KS4 students.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviours and remain calm in high-pressure situations.
  • Experience working in an 'on-call' or internal isolation unit capacity.
  • Strong communication and emotional intelligence skills.
  • Ability to pass an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
  • Up-to-date Safeguarding Training (U-educate offers free courses for candidates without a current certificate).
