About the Role

Crew Clothing Head Office is seeking a talented Childrenswear Design Assistant to join our design team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for supporting the Senior Childrenswear Designer in creating seasonal colour palettes, researching product areas, and developing commercial Childrenswear ranges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Senior Childrenswear Designer in creating seasonal colour palettes and arranging lab dips for Suppliers.
  • Research all product areas to support in designing a commercial Childrenswear range, identifying newness, emerging trends, and colours, print/graphics, and fabric.
  • Assist the Senior Childrenswear Designer in creating design packs and liaising with the supply base to develop protos.
  • Prepare artworks for factory development.
  • Support the Senior Childrenswear Designer in communicating with Suppliers on the product development cycle.
  • Ensure range plans are up to date and ready for sign-off meetings.
  • Assist in setting up rooms for meetings and presentations.
  • Note taking during presentations if required.
  • Presenting range to management at sketch review.

Key Accountabilities
  • Accountable for the ownership of key areas within Childrenswear.
  • Multitask orientated with the ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Accountable for hitting all critical path deadlines.
  • Following the seasonal process from concept to product handover.
  • Attend and participate in Childrenswear weekly fit sessions.
  • Strong teamwork across the design function as well as working closely with Buying, Merchandising, and Tech teams.
  • Proactively finding all sales and brand knowledge needed to build a balanced range.
  • Accountable for bringing a high level of creativity.
  • Manage samples and swatches when they need to be sent to Suppliers.
  • Strong communicator.

Requirements
  • A minimum of 1 year's experience in a similar brand or comparable retailer, working at a Design Assistant capacity.
  • Ability to influence and communicate effectively, with excellent people skills.
  • Computer literate (Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, Microsoft Word, Excel).
  • Excellent design and CAD skills, with an eye for detail.
