English Teacher Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate English teacher to join our thriving secondary school in Ipswich for a maternity cover position, starting in October. The school is recognized for its calm and supportive environment, fostering a positive atmosphere for its students.

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching English to Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students, inspiring a love of literature and language while maintaining high academic standards. The role requires someone who can deliver engaging lessons, assess student progress effectively, and contribute positively to the school's ethos.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality English lessons in line with the national curriculum.
  • Foster a stimulating and inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback and support as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure the smooth running of the English department.
  • Prepare students for GCSE exams, helping them achieve their full potential.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • A degree in English or a related subject.
  • Proven experience teaching English at secondary level (KS3/KS4).
  • Strong classroom management skills and a passion for education.
  • Commitment to providing an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
