We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Garment Specialist to join our team on a maternity cover basis. As a Senior Product Footwear Technologist, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of quality, fit, and durability in our bespoke footwear collections.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct fit sessions for high-profile product areas, collaborating with design, production, and quality assurance teams to ensure seamless execution.
  • Provide expert knowledge in material selection, component sourcing, and construction techniques for bespoke footwear, balancing speed and quality while making commercial decisions with confidence.
  • Support the Technical team and Tech Manager in managing fit sessions, product areas, and junior technicians, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
  • Liaise with design, buying, and suppliers to offer technical guidance on new product development, aiming to reduce costs and improve quality.
  • Work directly with suppliers and the technical team to improve areas of weakness, including in-house training and development of the technical team.
  • Ensure compliance with product safety and REACH legislation, assessing risk, advising on relevant testing, and recording and resolving non-compliance effectively.
  • Contribute to initiatives to reduce customer returns, promoting quality while maintaining a strong commercial attitude.
  • Identify and manage new projects, feeding back to the Tech Manager with recommendations for improvements to procedures and practices.
About You
  • Previous experience in a senior role in a similar environment is essential.
  • A technically oriented qualification, preferably at degree level, is required.
  • Able to work both individually and as part of a team, with the ability to inspire and motivate team members.
  • Multi-product experience, including fringe areas, with the ability to move between product areas.
  • Confident and strong individual, with the ability to manage the team, expectations, and own fit sessions.
  • Comprehensive understanding of fitting and fit issues is essential.
  • Pattern cutting knowledge and practice are desirable, alongside knowledge of grading and grade rules.
  • Knowledge and experience of Gerber and/or similar pattern systems are essential.
  • Experience of working directly with factories, with a thorough understanding of factory production, including workflow and production control.
  • First-class communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with the QA Manager and wider team.
  • Keen interest in overseas travel is essential.
  • Able to meet new challenges with a positive attitude.
  • Strong time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and change direction with agility.
  • Confident using Outlook, Excel, and Word, with a keenness to expand skill set as the role demands.
