Job Title: Learning Support Assistant - Special Educational Needs

Location: Cranborne, Dorset

Salary: £20,941.30 - £22,835.30 per annum (based on 40 hours per week, term time only)

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join our team at a specialist school in Cramborne. The successful candidate will work with young people aged 11-16 who have additional social, emotional, and mental health needs.

Purpose of the Role

The primary objective of this role is to support the teaching staff in delivering a broad and balanced curriculum to students both on and off-site. Flexibility is essential, as you may be required to work one-on-one with a student or support in-class activities with small groups. Positive behaviour management is a critical aspect of this position, and you will play a vital role in ensuring a safe and caring environment for all students.

Responsibilities
  • Supporting teaching staff in delivering the curriculum to students with special educational needs
  • Working one-on-one with students or supporting small groups in-class activities
  • Maintaining a positive and supportive relationship with students, staff, and parents
  • Assisting with the development and implementation of individual education plans
  • Providing feedback and progress updates to teaching staff and parents

  • Ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff and other professionals
  • Good numeracy, literacy, and ICT skills
