Job Overview

National Locums is seeking a highly skilled Medical Microbiologist Specialist to join our team as a Locum Consultant in Microbiology for an NHS client in Wales. This 6-12 month assignment offers a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, providing clinical leadership and expertise in microbiology.

About the Role

This full-time or flexible position requires GMC licensed professionals with NHS experience as Specialty Doctor/Consultant in Microbiology. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting microbiological investigations, interpreting results, and developing guidelines and protocols.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership in the Microbiology department
  • Conduct microbiological investigations and interpret results
  • Develop and implement microbiological guidelines and protocols
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure effective patient care
  • Maintain accurate records and report results in a timely manner
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest microbiological research and developments
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff members
  • Contribute to the development of the department’s strategic plan and business objectives
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and standards
Compensation

We offer a competitive salary range of £80,000 - £110,000 per annum, depending on experience, to reflect the demands of this challenging role.
