Mac Recruit Group Careers is seeking a skilled Fabrication Estimator to join our client, a leading UK manufacturer of turnkey steel solutions. This role is based in their office just outside of Glasgow.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed estimates by analyzing blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to ensure accurate pricing for materials, labour, and equipment involved in fabrication.
- Review project requirements and identify the most cost-effective and efficient methods of production, factoring in manufacturing capabilities and capacities.
- Obtain and evaluate material, labour, and subcontractor pricing for projects, working closely with suppliers and vendors to ensure accurate pricing on components and materials.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to clarify designs, specifications, and any changes.
- Prepare formal bids for projects, including detailed breakdowns of materials, labour, and overhead costs, and present them to management and customers as required.
- Monitor project budgets and report on variances between actual costs and estimates, proposing cost-saving opportunities where applicable.
- Engage with clients to understand project scopes, address inquiries, and provide clarity on estimates and timelines.
- Maintain organized records of estimates, contracts, and cost-related information for each project.
Requirements:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work accurately and efficiently under pressure.
- Proficiency in MS Office and estimating software.
