About the Role

Mactech Energy Group is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team as a Piping and Supports Specialist. This is a full-time, long-term contract position that offers a unique opportunity to work on a premier construction project in the UK.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing and accepting engineering queries raised by the site contractor on the Piping and Supports scope across the Nuclear Island buildings. This will involve providing oversight to ensure compliance with Nuclear Safety and Environmental Regulation requirements, challenging design decisions to align with project strategy, and coordinating support from external organizations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to general queries, non-conformances, change requests, and exemption requests
  • Provide adequate oversight to ensure Nuclear Safety and Environmental Regulation requirements are met
  • Challenge design decisions to ensure engineering and design align with project strategy
  • Assist in coordinating support from other external organizations
  • Contribute to the resolution and closure of open points
  • Assess technical risk and address it accordingly
  • Report operationally to an Engineering Lead
Requirements
  • Degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Experience in piping and support design, installation, and/or commissioning
  • Experience applying multi-disciplinary technical knowledge within the nuclear industry
  • Experience in the understanding of welding engineering
  • Ability to influence a diverse range of stakeholders, particularly those in a site environment
  • Ability to work independently, be proactive, report on, and escalate relevant issues
What We Offer

Mactech Energy Group offers a hybrid working arrangement, with 3 days in the office and 2 days from home. Flexible working hours are available to accommodate travel requirements. The salary range is £380-£520 per week, depending on the pay route.
