Job Summary:

The Software Engineer-II at Rocket Software designs, develops, and troubleshoots software programs for software enhancements and new products. This role involves developing software tools, including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases, and Internet-related tools. The Software Engineer-II determines software's compatibility with hardware and/or influences software's design in relation to hardware.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understand end-user requirements.
  • Write commercial/enterprise-grade software.
  • Provide input on designs for software enhancements and new products.
  • Identify code problems and bring them to the attention of senior engineers for resolution.
  • Document and communicate on technical topics without direction.
  • Shadow other engineers to debug customer issues.
  • Work under limited direction to implement software enhancements, correct defects, and/or create new products.
  • Understand hardware and software systems.
  • Work proficiently in a team environment.
  • Self-directed learning of application subject matter.
  • Exercise curiosity.

Requirements:

  • A passion for learning new skills to help the world's largest organizations evolve and grow.
  • Strong evidence of academic, personal, or commercial coding experience.
  • A highly personable team player who can work effectively with colleagues and customers.

Preferred Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
