Biogas Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Biogas Engineer to join our team at Thames Water.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with our fleet of Combined Heat and Power (CHP) spark ignition biogas engines located across various Thames Water sites.

You will be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, repairing, and optimising the performance of these engines, ensuring they operate safely and efficiently.

As a successful candidate, you will have the ability to carry out thorough diagnostics on engine, generator, and associated systems, and operate and optimise assets using engine/generator controls.

You will also be expected to work collaboratively with current CHP support staff and suppliers to ensure all maintenance is carried out safely, with minimal downtime, and within budget.

• Maintain, diagnose, repair, and optimise the performance of CHP spark ignition biogas engines
• Carry out thorough diagnostics on engine, generator, and associated systems
• Operate and optimise assets using engine/generator controls
• Work collaboratively with CHP support staff and suppliers to ensure safe and efficient maintenance

• In-depth knowledge of internal combustion engines and associated systems
• Ability to carry out comprehensive and methodical diagnostics
• Competent to work to a high level of quality, alone or as part of a team
• Ideally NVQ/C&G or engine manufacturers qualification in mechanical engineering
• Natural/Bio/AD Gas engine, CHP, and gas system experience desirable but not essential
• Good communication and interpersonal skills required

• Competitive salary of up to £54,000 per annum
• Opportunity to earn overtime at time and a half or double rates
