Job Summary

The Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled Credit Controller to join its team. As a key member of the Finance department, you will be responsible for managing student and sponsor income collection, minimising bad debt, and maximising income collection through effective debt chasing and negotiation of instalment plans.

Main Responsibilities
  • Manage student and sponsor income collection, including debt chasing, management of existing instalment plans, and prompt payment allocation to student accounts.
  • Develop and run debtors reports to facilitate the day-to-day management of the student ledger.
  • Develop and run management reports to present to senior management, highlighting trends and informing policy changes in relation to income collection.
  • Negotiate instalment plans with students experiencing financial difficulty and provide support by signposting them to relevant services.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to students, sponsors, and other customers, responding to queries and resolving issues in a timely and efficient manner.

Person Specification
  • Essential:
    • Significant experience as a credit controller.
    • Confident user of IT, Microsoft Office, integrated financial ledger system, databases, and advanced Excel.
    • Significant practical experience of financial accounting practices (accounts payable, credit control, banking, etc.).
    • Good communication skills, able to explain complex financial issues to non-finance managers.
    • Good analytical skills, able to solve complex financial and non-financial problems.
  • Desirable:
    • Able to form judgements and make autonomous decisions guided by policies and procedures.
