Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join our engineering team as an Electrical Engineer in Maintenance. You will be responsible for providing technical guidance and expertise in resolving quality issues within the Engineering department.

You will assist the Maintenance Engineering Manager in ensuring that all activities on the Tredegar site comply with current GMP standards, company policies, and business requirements.

The role involves working on planned preventative maintenance programs, adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and completing necessary documentation to ensure the plant is maintained at an optimal level.

You will also support the Engineering Departments in ensuring all engineering activities on the Tredegar site meet GMP standards.

The position requires full participation in equipment breakdowns, practicing systematic fault diagnosis and repairs, and minimizing downtime and product loss.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the maintenance and service of all equipment and materials involved with the production of products at PCI Tredegar.
  • Support the set-up and change over of applicable production equipment, as well as training PCI personnel on these tasks.
  • Undertake the maintenance and repair of manufacturing and packaging equipment at the PCI Tredegar sites.
  • Fully contribute to planned preventative maintenance programs.
  • Monitor the performance of critical utilities and process equipment in a cGMP environment and perform or arrange necessary repairs, adjustments, calibrations, and preventative maintenance.
  • Liaise with third-party contractors to arrange for planned preventative maintenance/rectification work required for breakdowns and ensure prompt return of associated reports.
  • Promptly attend equipment breakdowns, practice systematic fault diagnosis and repairs in optimum time, ensuring minimum downtime and product loss.
  • Comply with company policies, local, UK, and global regulatory requirements, including internal and external Health, Safety, and Environmental standards at all times while completing tasks.
  • Assist in coordinating equipment requisitions with internal departments for building services requirements and carry out equipment and furniture installations.
  • Understand the complex operation of pharmaceuticals and provide technical support, advice, and expertise to all operational departments and clients.
  • Assist with registration and installation of new plant/equipment.
  • Support the design, procurement, introduction, and management of production tooling.
  • Provide training, support, and direction to trainees/apprentices/operation teams when required.
  • Maintain close co-operation with all other departments to attain continual improvement in performance and standards of quality and reliability.
  • Assist in the management of electrical energy consumption using monitoring techniques in line with environmental policy.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering.
  • Strong background and practical experience in electrical engineering.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry is preferred but not essential.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in an operational setting.
  • Skilled in maintaining equipment and managing breakdowns.
  • Project Management skills.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledgeable in preventive and maintenance systems (PPM).
  • Demonstrates strong teamwork abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
