Financial Controller Job Description

We are seeking a seasoned Financial Controller to join our team at We Do Group. As a key member of our finance function, you will be responsible for managing the financial performance of our group, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and providing strategic financial guidance to our leadership team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and present monthly group management accounts, including variance analysis and commentary.
  • Collaborate with our Finance Director and other executives to develop budgets and forecasts for all entities within the group.
  • Act as the primary finance contact for two trading entities, overseeing budget preparation, monthly management account production, commission calculations for payroll, and cash flow management.
  • Track and report all expenditure related to grants received and present these to the project board.
  • Oversee processes and reconciliations for student numbers and student finance.
  • Manage the detailed audit process, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of audit results.
  • Prepare statutory accounts for non-group entities.
  • Maintain a contract register for the group and review new contracts prior to signature by the CEO.
  • Responsibility for VAT returns, including the VAT group return.
  • Develop financial models for new initiatives.
  • Support the Finance Director and other executives with ad-hoc analysis and tasks.
  • Assist in overseeing and supporting the finance team as needed.
  • Maintain and build strategic relationships.
Requirements:
  • Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA, CA)
  • Prior experience working as a Financial Controller or in group finance roles in a management capacity
  • Hands-on mentality
What We Offer:

A competitive salary of £70,000 - £80,000 + benefits, with a hybrid working arrangement of 2 days per week in office. We are looking for a tenured, hands-on, qualified accountant who is people-focused and enjoys balancing technical reporting requirements with monthly and quarterly management reporting and budgeting cycles.
