Job Title: Highway Structures Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Highway Structures Manager to lead our award-winning Structures Team in managing the island's structures stock under the IOW Highways PFI Contract.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement strategies for inspections, monitoring, and assessment of bridge structures and highway retaining walls.
  • Manage the forward works Programme for inspection, assessment, design, maintenance, and strengthening of structures.
  • Prepare and monitor OPEX and CAPEX budgets.
  • Review tender submissions and monitor supply chain partner compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and policies.
  • Review pre-tender Health & Safety Plans and Risk Assessments and carry out the duties of Principal Designer or Designer where required by the CDM Regulations.
Requirements:
  • Chartered Civil Engineer (CEng MICE/MIStructE or equivalent)
  • Experience of Inspections to the BCI system
  • Working Knowledge of Standards, Codes of Practice, and guidance relating to Highway structures Design, Maintenance & Management
  • Relevant highway structures asset management systems
  • Relevant parts of the British Standards; Design Manual for Roads and Bridges and the Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works.
  • Budgetary control
  • Risk assessment and management
  • Ability to manipulate databases and spreadsheets
Preferred Requirements:
  • Experience in the design of Highway structures
  • Construction site experience
  • Experience of NEC3 forms of contract
  • Ability to drive
  • A clear work history and proof of professional development and learning
Working Arrangements:

Our offices are based in Newport, Isle of Wight. Whilst the role is required to be predominantly office based, there are elements of it which could be well suited to remote working on a part-time or ad-hoc basis.
