About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Support Worker to join our team at Avicenna Supported Living Limited (ASL Services). As a Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in delivering personalized support to young adults with learning difficulties, helping them achieve their personal goals and develop essential life skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day support, including personal care and assistance with daily living tasks.
  • Support the development of life skills such as cooking, budgeting, and personal hygiene.
  • Facilitate and accompany individuals to community activities, medical appointments, and social events.
  • Promote and encourage independence and confidence.
  • Monitor and report on the well-being of individuals to the management team.
Less-Frequent Tasks
  • Support individuals in crisis situations by implementing strategies to calm and de-escalate.
  • Participate in care plan reviews and update plans as necessary.
  • Assist with administrative tasks related to individual care records.
Measuring Success
  • Positive feedback from the individuals supported and their families.
  • Progress in individuals' personal development and life skills.
  • Contribution to a safe, positive, and inclusive environment.
  • Achievement of care goals as outlined in individuals' care plans.
Opportunities for Growth
  • Career progression into senior support roles or specialist areas such as mental health or autism support.
  • Opportunities to undertake further qualifications such as NVQs in Health and Social Care.
What You'll Be Doing
  • Build rapport with the individuals you support and develop an understanding of their needs.
  • Learn and implement care plans effectively.
  • Support individuals in daily activities and contribute to their personal development.
  • Complete required training by the company.
  • Complete 'Care Certificate' training if you do not hold QCF level 2 or 3.
Requirements
  • Minimum Level 2 NVQ in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
  • First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Essential Skills
  • Experience supporting individuals with learning difficulties or other disabilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
Desirable Skills
  • Experience with person-centred planning.
  • Training in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS).
  • Understanding of safeguarding procedures.
  • Drivers' license.
