Job Summary

The South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team in delivering exceptional medicines optimisation and dispensary services. As a key member of our pharmacy team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and effective supply of medicines to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and maintain medication supply to wards and teams
  • Initiate medicines reconciliation for newly admitted patients
  • Accredited MOPTs and/or Accredited Checking Technician training
  • Provide 1:1 patient counselling on newly initiated medicines
  • Communicate discharge information to patients, Community Pharmacies, and GPs
  • Participate in the ongoing development of the pharmacy technician's role in Medicines Optimisation
  • Lead on clozapine blood test reviews, ordering, and releasing
  • Active involvement in Quality Improvement projects and clinical audit
  • Organise the clinical workload and staffing levels to ensure efficient and cost-effective service delivery
  • Maintain accurate stock control and oversee the maintenance of medicines on wards and in the dispensary
  • Supervise the work of junior pharmacy technicians, Pre-registration Trainee pharmacy technicians, pharmacy assistants, and students
